The whole planning code is being re-written by Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage on the basis that public participation and access to justice is causing delays in housing 2/n

When its own data shows that the real issue () at least in Dublin) is that 2 out of 3 extant planning permissions haven't started 3/n

The new legislation has nothing in it to create obligations or penalties for not building out granted planning permissions 4/n

But whole chapters devoted to curtailing public participation, forcing decisions in unrealistic timescales and preventing legal challenges 5/n

All of which makes it look like the system is being designed to produce planning permissions, not houses. 6/6
