Urban mobility can be complex. But a birds-eye view shows us that the math of optimal use of road space is remarkably simple! 41 x 🚴 > 9 x 🚗. (📸 of Nørreport, #Copenhagen by Henrik Lundorf Nielsen)

i am begging for cities & elected leaders to actually look at data before committing $500 million dollars to things like reducing bus emissions.

Helsinki has a metro area population of 1.6 million (1/5 of Boston’s) yet its 4 line commuter rail system carries 200,000 a day, 1 1/2 times what Boston’s does on a system less than half as big. So what’s the secret?

The thing people don’t understand when kvetching about how NYC isn’t ready for congestion pricing because our system is worse than London is that the London system only became this good because of congestion pricing

Folks are starting to pull those badge taps. I have literally heard C-Suite executives say they see no value in riding the bus because passengers wont know who they are. Its not for the passengers, its so you can make better informed decisions about the agency you help oversee

This is top-tier transit reporting. We need more reporters like this who ask the tough questions & don't accept the bs answers from those in power. The video of the mother getting off the bus was the icing on the cake immediately after the chair said mothers only ride to events.

“Our leaders simply do not know how to run and build good cities” Policies over politics! Public transport is the most efficient way for people to move about dense urban areas.
