Super incredible morning expanding the context of our LEGO Education WeDo robotics unit in flood prevention to include practical applications with an expert civil engineer. The kids built and programmed flood gates and worked collaboratively to build barrier walls of sandbags.

Took a deep dive into MC Escher’s Mobius Strip piece by zooming in on the intricacies of its structure. Then made Möbius strips to examine the paradox.

4th graders @SunflowerSMSD learned about the engineering process with prosthetic specialist, Whitney Tapp from the Hanger Clinic Hanger Clinic. She fused her interest in art and anatomy into a STEAM career dedicated to helping others.

JCCC professor of computer science, Perla Weaver presented this morning to 5th/6th graders in the SEEK program @SunflowerSMSD. We learned about the history of how people solve problems using computers. Humans were the 1st computers and WW2 ads used to say “Now hiring computers.”
