R. 'Lemon Dream', such a delicate shade of yellow. A late flowering rhododendron suitable for the smaller garden.

Not the prettiest nakaharae hybrid. Raised many years ago by a friend, from a 'rogue' pack of seed sent by Polly Hill. It has a retained corolla. We call it 'Jim's Weirdo'.

Sold to me as nakaharae pink, some 25 years ago. It isn't 'Pink Pancake' and it isn't 'Wombat', but it is very pretty. A welcome start to the finale of the flowering season.

R. Fruit Salad, a wonderfully multicoloured deciduous azalea.

R. nakaharae surviving the heat in the South East. The small hairy leaves make it an attraction through the year, not just at flowering time.

A second flush of flowers on R. pumilum in our garden today. Many of the dwarf rhododendrons have put out a flower or two over the last month but this beats all of them.

R. 'Yellow Hammer' flowering for the second time this year, such a welcome sight, enhancing the autumn colour.

Autumn colour in some of our garden. Just love Japanese maples, they brighten up our day as winter approaches.

My nakaharae hybrid with the retained corolla in the garden today. My first photo was tweeted on 8 June!!

One of the tender azaleas I picked up at the supermarket a few years ago, it was literally kicking around the floor. I call it 99, as it was reduced to 99p, all it needed was water! Indoors when its cold, out when it's warm, we have azalea flowers from August to December/January.

This is quite short but really worth watching. I had no idea The Royal Parks kept shire horses, let alone trained and kept working ones. It features in the programme shown on 15 November.

Another tender azalea that has been flowering off and on since August. It always seems to give a second flush of flowers once it comes in for the winter.
