We are deeply saddened by the passing of Bernadine Strik, who over a 30+ year career at OSU developed a world-renowned berry crops research, Extension and teaching program. She was a marvelous colleague, mentor and friend to so many. She will be greatly missed. @ORagriculture

"While the berry community grieves Dr. Strik’s untimely passing, it is also useful to look at her legacy and draw inspiration from the positive energy and accomplishments she brought about throughout her lifetime." bit.ly/3NQxD6C

.Ashraf El-kereamy & .Tian Tian presented interesting results on rootstock effects in young versus old vines. In younger vines, strongest effects were on mineral nutrition. In older vines, veg growth & crop effects became significant. Here Tian summarizes her observations nicely.

Navel orangeworm egg laying activity in almonds has been going up - not surprising for given the high overwintering populations and the prevalence of mummy nuts out there. Keep track of what’s happening throughout the season is crucial. Numbers from Modesto area.
