World Thinking Day is celebrated by Girl Guides and Girl Scouts all over the world on 22nd February each year. Boy Scouts also mark this day but call it Founders Day. We invited all uniformed organisations to wear their uniforms to school today Girlguiding Girl Scouts Scouts

This week, Reception have started their new Talk for Writing unit - 'The Gingerbread Man'. As an exciting hook for this unit of learning, the children enjoyed making their own gingerbread men as independently as possible.

In Art Year 2 are doing a unit on expressive painting. This week they have been learning about primary colours and exploring how to apply paint in abstract patterns using home made tools.

Reception have been very busy. We have been developing our creativity and fine motor skills by making individual large scale art on cotton fabric inspired by traditional African fabric patterns. We have been thinking about the transition from winter to spring.

Reception were thrilled to walk in the St Piran's Day parade yesterday! They have been learning about Cornwall as part of their Big Wide World topic, as well as how people celebrate special times!

This week we having been learning about Cornwall in nursery and the children have been really enjoying learning about the 'Man Engine' and recreating him in the block area. We have also been learning about tradition Cornish foods and the children enjoyed baking their own scones.

This half term in art, Year 4 have been focussing on taking creative risks experimenting with materials. They have been using a variety of media to create drawings of bird nests. They have also been using clay and other resources to build their own nests.

The children in year 1 have been learning about their numbers to 100. They have been busy sorting, ordering and playing games like snakes and ladders.

The children were visited by NHS Big Brush Club today and had class discussions on the importance of looking after our teeth.

Today the nursery children had a very special gift made for them, which is now in our outdoor learning area for all to enjoy. Thank you John for the lovely new fairy door.

EYFS enjoyed an afternoon of Easter activities! They completed an egg hunt, looking for personalised eggs with their names on. They also made the pet bunnies from our home corners 'hop' on the parachute, and completed an egg and spoon course around the classroom!

Year 1 had a great time visiting Woodland Valley Farm this week. They learnt about how farmers grow our food and how they look after their animals. They fed lambs and pigs and visited the beaver enclosure. The afternoon was spent den building and exploring.

On Monday EYFS enjoyed a visit from the Royal Cornwall Roadshow, as a great start to their 'Food Glorious Food!' topic. They learned all about the animals which live on farms, the crops grown on farms, and the machinery on farms.

Nursery had a fantastic time on their trip to The Food Warehouse to buy fruit to make their very own fruit salad! The children thought about different fruits they would like to put in the fruit salad before their trip, and then found the correct items in the supermarket!

Reception had a lovely trip to Fig cafe as part of their 'Food Glorious Food' topic! The children independently ordered their own drinks and snacks from the cafe menu and paid using pretend money. They learnt lots about how cafes work and the roles of people who work in a cafe.

We are so proud of our incredible Year 3s who performed in this year's Royal Shakespeare Company's Regional Playmakers Festival at Hall for Cornwall. They performed Twelfth Night alongside 11 schools from around Cornwall and were the youngest children.
