WPC has analyzed a dryline extending into Northern Missouri. To show how rare this is, here is a frequency heatmap for *every* dryline analyzed during synoptic hours (0, 6, 12, 18z) by WPC over the US from 2008-2020

Using ThreadEx stations with 100+ years of data, here's a map of stations that tied or broke their maximum February record highs yesterday & today. Breaking a 100+ year *monthly* record is remarkable on its own... by doing so by **over 5 degrees** is even more so!

Ever wonder how much supercells contribute to U.S. hydroclimate? Paper by Aaron Zeeb and NIU WCS group tackles this question and projects future changes in this relatively small, but potent, storm type. Full article: shorturl.at/suzM4 #supercell #ClimateChange

It’s been 50 years since the first attempt to forecast the El Niño/Southern Oscillation. The initial prediction was incorrect, but it marked the beginning of a journey toward understanding and predicting one of Earth’s most influential climate phenomena. climate.gov/news-features/…

This is irresponsible meteorology, regardless of how the article couches the approach. There is no "scoop." This far out, climatology is still the best forecast.

The ocean says it's June 3 in the tropical Atlantic. ⏰ Anomalies this large aren't supposed to happen, and certainly not for 10 consecutive months with no end in sight. bmcnoldy.earth.miami.edu/tropics/ohc/

Tropical deep convection is one of the leading sources of uncertainty in future projections of the Earth’s temperature. There are uncertainties in the radiative response of convective clouds, which can have negative or positive radiative effects. climate.gov/news-features/…

Record-breaking #heat is forecast to expand from the Midwest and Great Lakes to the Northeast this week, potentially lingering through early next week. The duration of this heat wave is notable and potentially the longest experienced in decades for some locations.

i’m gonna take this chance to reiterate what i’ve said before. Gay people: your family, friends, and neighbors do not give a fuck about your rights. They think it’s annoying and kind of pushy when you bring it up. They miss when it wasn’t something they had to acknowledge.
