out of 2,101 commodity subsidy recipients between 1995 and 2024, I'm the 1,487th biggest recipient in my county. I have never grown a commodity crop, for what it's worth. #livingontheteet

Put new elevator chain and plant holders on this old transplanter I got at an auction this summer. Going to try planting garlic in a few weeks.

Twitter is well known for it's pornbot problem, but my FB feed is 10x worse now. It's the suggested reels that are about every 2nd swipe down the page. No matter how many times I select "see less" it only gets worse. I won't even open the app in public anymore.

Anyone in the socal area: Hey friends — I wanted to share something we’ve started at Calico Fish House called Sharing the Table. Every Monday from 4–8 PM, we’re offering scratch-made family meals for FREE for anyone in the community who could use a financial hand with dinner -

There's a chugging sound coming from under the steering column on my JD B. I don't think it should sound like that. Any experts want to weigh in.

Ran down to the Solon, IA area to pick up a piece of farm equipment and stopped at Big Grove Brewery for lunch. Good beer and really good food.

Bit of nostalgia last night. I haven't been to a place that has offered pitchers of beer in quite awhile. Price was a little higher than the last time. haha

I feel like farm-to-table dinners have reached their apex, or somewhere past, in our area. The ticket prices have gotten ridiculous and way out of reach for most people ($125-150/seat) I'm thinking ahead to other events that seem different enough but still check the boxes

I grew up doing sugar beet and wheat harvest and so I do get the excitement I see on here about it. But I do sort of chuckle when I see the day counts. Like "we're on day 12 only 3 more to go ugh" We've been harvesting every day since May 1. Every week since Mid February. Haha

Can't really find any data on when our latest first frost was, but we're going to hit November this year. Last couple years it's been around Oct 12-Oct 24. The 24th felt REALLY late. Oct 9 is our historical avg..

If I’m farming (and we are) then it seems that taking a step back and asking this simple question may help: What do people want to buy? The top line items in our family budget are the mortgage, insurance, utilities, and groceries. We also have vehicle payments, but those need

We launched our 2026 CSA early-bird sign up on Monday. Response has been great. +70% better than same week 2024. With 3 days still to go on the offer.
