Ik deel hier vaker radarbeelden van vogeltrek, maar die van gisteravond van radar Den Helder (KNMI) zijn toch wel heel bijzonder: vogels wachten op de Waddeneilanden en in Noord-NL de schemering af, om dan massaal over steken naar Engeland, waar ze overwinteren of verder trekken!

Today’s Arctic winds brought a huge cold-weather movement of waders and ducks west along the North Norfolk coast as well as a further sprinkling of Little Auks. Among the many waders, several Common Snipe, travelling within the Dunlin flocks, caught my attention.

Meet our tagged Blackbirds “Gouda” and “Merle”! We've equipped 10 Blackbirds with lightweight 3 g GPS-tags to track their migration. This is a Europe-wide project and it aims to uncover wintering locations and migration routes of different populations. Safe travels to our birds!
