If you listen to the full context of his comments, you can tell he’s going to great lengths to be thoughtful and I can think of a 100 scenarios where it’d land as such, but unfortunately none of them are a Democratic mayoral primary in NYC in 2025.

I actually think the scale is the reason. It’s difficult to convey the sweep of it succinctly. With ACA, folks had accessible context given the preceding fights over it. It also helped that Rs framed the whole thing as a “repeal.” People understood something was being taken away.
