I know everybody thinks modern film crit is in the gutter, and maybe it is, but the venom people have to rush towards attacking any review they disagree with, often with out of context quotes, is equally bad for how we talk about movies imo

all across twitter today this has been an exercise of a quote taken out of context & then pilloried w/o much close reading of the text or the connectedness of the overall piece. i think there's room to debate the review, but intent seems to be on believing the critic is ignorant
