Getting this week’s “Shappy Hour” Spaces info out a little early both because it’s an early start time and it’s an awesome card in Saratoga on Saturday! Join me and Travis Stone as we hopefully help you make some $$$ on Belmont Stakes Day! x.com/i/spaces/1YqJD…

Sovereignty was viewed as a pace-dependent closer this spring. In the Belmont, he sat closer to the pace than ever before. So now he's stamina-loaded, fast AND versatile. Subtitle: He’s a major problem for every horse in the division this summer and beyond.

Spring meet always flies by after Derby. Heading home to Saratoga, so hit me up if you’re around. We can share picks and a good pour to offset those losers! But first, let’s go out on top: $1.4M Derby City 6 force-out starts Race 6. Good luck today and this summer to all!

Countdown to Saratoga Opening Day: 10 🎉 In 2004, intern @travisstone covered Chowder’s First’s win in the Cab Calloway S. Little did we know, he'd go from practicing race calls on the roof of Saratoga to becoming the announcer for the Kentucky Derby and major events worldwide.

I’m walking into Saratoga for the first time and a flabbergasted fellow is walking out with his hands on his head. He mutters some gals name (couldn’t catch it) followed by “… is gonna kill me when she finds out how much I lost today.” He didn’t even make the Early Pick 4!

We are sitting at the 16th pole today and the stride on Ted Noffey was jaw-dropping as he ripped away from some very talented rivals. And then he galloped back as if he hadn’t even run yet. Wow!

It’s great to be back in the booth as we head into my favorite three months of racing every year in Kentucky. I’m also a proponent of higher minimums so please check out the $3 Late Pick starting today in Race 6! Good luck to all!

Jockeys Tyler Gaffalione and Iradortiz dominated the standings this month at Churchill Downs. Tyler edged-out Irad for leading rider (26 vs. 23 wins) but if you blindly bet all of their mounts, you would have turned a profit! $2 ROI: Tyler: $2.36 (104 starts) Irad: $2.21 (84 starts)

Englishman was by far the most impressive 2yo this meet. His debut Beyer of 97 is the 3rd highest this year (Brant's debut was a 101 & Ted Noffey's Hopeful a 98). His dam sprinted, so we'll see how far he'll go. Cherie DeVaux hinted a one turn mile to Horse Racing Nation might be next.

The 3yo’s haven’t exactly stacked-up so far against the elders. Fierceness cruised against Journalism and both Hit Show and Rattle N Roll handled Gosger and Bracket Buster today. Obviously some circumstances at play but perhaps some signal there too.

There’s a $451,000 carryover in the Derby City 6 at Churchill Downs. It’s closing day tomorrow - mandatory payout! The last race winner today (Cannoneer) galloped-out all the way to the 4-1/2 furlong pole. If you finish the year off like he did, I promise you’ll win. Good luck!
