This point plus the connection between 'the quadriga' and the theological virtues (faith, hope, and love) are what convinced me that it's a helpful and non-arbitrary strategy for reading Scripture.

In fact, I'm convinced that the average church member who has sat under expositional preaching for a few years has better hermeneutical 'instincts' than many academics. I don't say that lightly as somebody who longs for evangelicals to love theological education!

"Gospel-centrality is not as popular as it once was. At least, the marketing movement built on gospel-centrality has declined over the past fifteen years." Nobody better to evaluate the 'Gospel-centered movement' than Jared C. Wilson! Take up and read. desiringgod.org/articles/are-y…

And while we're at it, I'd love to see dozens of residency programs like this one popping up globally (but especially in the MO Ozarks)! DM me if your church or network wants to train ministry candidates while they're studying online.

If you dip into some Psalms you might hear a self-righteous religious person asking God to take their side & smite their foes. If you dwell in them you realize you have now opened all your conflicts to God & you have to triangulate every fight & all foes toward his righteousness.

I'm always saddened when, on Thanksgiving, some find nobody in particular to thank. For believers, there's another error to avoid: selective gratitude. Not all of life is good, but there is a way in all things to be grateful to God for those who live by faith.
