TRAPUM Survey Goals With the power of MeerKAT, TRAPUM will discover numerous new pulsars and transient events. In doing so, we will expand our knowledge of populations of sources emitting at radio wavelengths on time scales from microseconds to seconds.

🧐 Why TRAPUM? 💡 The discovery and continued study of pulsars and transient events will help improve our understanding of physics in extreme environments.

Did you know? 🤔 The original name of the telescope we use was KAT, which is short for "Karoo Array Telescope." Many more antennas were built over time. Therefore, the telescope got a new name, which means "more of KAT": MeerKAT. 💡 #radioastronomy #meerkat

Did you know? 🤔 #Pulsars can spin up to 716 times per second. This is 1,5 times faster than a regular kitchenblender.

Did you know? 🤔 TRAPUM's #pulsar discovery rate is skyrocketing - 302 pulsars have been found in just 5 years, doubling the known #population by 2018. #science #radioastronomy #meerkat
