A beautiful story nicely showing how a 'simple' explanation with a canonical mechanism (splicing!) can replace a complex 'new biology' mechanism (Repeat Associated Non-AUG translation)

RNA goes up, translation goes down...🤔
Here we investigate this phenomenon when depleting DDX3X, and we find that those are stabilized mRNAs.
GC content in CDS seems to drive this phenomenon, in cell lines as well as in vivo and in many other datasets.
