When I was sworn in, I asked two trans youth to be by my side and to hold my bible because I wanted to make clear to any trans kid who was watching: You may feel alone, but there are elected officials who are standing right beside you every step of the way. You are valued.

This has been a tough week for many in the trans community - especially trans kids - who have seen members of Congress and legislators ridicule and target them. Today and every day, we see you and are fighting right alongside you. You are not alone.
