.Andreas Salzburger gives tomorrow the conclusion talk on #trackml challenge (#kaggle and #codalab ) at #ichep2020 the major (virtual) physics conference ichep2020.org . One more paper to release and now many spin offs...

JFPuget 🇺🇦🇨🇦🇬🇱 Gael Varoquaux 🦋 Jaffray Woodriff I concur, for our #TrackML #kaggle challenge we've asked all competitors to submit documented code. A dozen did. We got a basket loads of new (to our community) ideas from the top 20. Top 1 was unpractical. We even noticed that #100 was doing very well for a tiny sub-problem.

Just out! With Andrey Ustyuzhanin we've summed up our experience organising scientific challenges/competition on Kaggle #codalab and more. With sections on #HiggsML flavour of physics, trackml , #lhco2020, challenge organisation tips, and open datasets arxiv.org/abs/2012.08520

This is #ACTS, the standalone track simulation and reconstruction framework on which the #kaggle and #codalab #trackml challenge was based. Great to see the foundation paper released !

Will deal both about ML for physics and physics for ML. Amazing plenary speakers. Plus contributed posters and short talks, deadline 27th August. #hepml

With a special Far-Universe hackathon to prototype a hopefully #neurips 2024 competition. A #higgsml competition on steroids, where participant need to handle uncertainties on the inputs and output: the expected answer is a confidence interval ! #hepml

10 years ago #OTD, Bing Xu and Tianqi Chen quietly announced the birth of XGBoost on the Kaggle #higgsml competition forum. Since then, XGBoost has skyrocketed in popularity to become the top ML go-to tool! 1/4

.Bruce Denby is the author of the very first paper on AI and Particle Physics back in 1988, when he was a post-doc in Orsay ( IJCLab @cnrs_in2p3) working in the CERN LEP DELPHI experiment. He was almost fired for this! #HEPML Tommaso Dorigo Kyle Cranmer Gregor Kasieczka

AI and physics is not a solved problem ! Check out the #NeuriPS 2024 Fair Universe HIggsML Uncertainty challenge to develop AI algorithms measuring the physics properties of elementary particles with imperfect simulators, with controlled uncertainties. fair-universe.lbl.gov
