The final pick is in: #GoBucks beat #GoIrish by a very slim margin. It's the only flip the model has made from its predictions before the start of the postseason: the model is 10/10 when predicting the CFP. Did ZeLO get it wrong?

Last week, I teamed up with Nolan Santacroce and made an NBA Elo model we've dubbed the S&Z 500. No surprise, we have the Thunder and Cavs as the most likely to win it all, followed by the Celtics. After that, it gets a little messy. Some quick thoughts below:

As we start to pivot to the full Week 1 slate, I wanted to publish the ratings and forecast changes for the teams that all played in Week 0. Iowa State saw the biggest ratings gain, and Stanford got a lot closer to becoming the worst Power 5 team.

Re-ran my CFB model after Sunday’s games. Notre Dame Football went from an average record of 10-2 to roughly 9-3. The Irish also dropped from a 54.5% chance of making the CFP to just over 30%. At the risk of stating the obvious, the Irish once again need to win out.

We are almost finished with Week 1, and what a ride it was! I just finished updating the model, and while Oregon remains at the top, teams like Texas, Notre Dame, and Alabama have taken a tumble. open.substack.com/pub/thomaszwil…
