The new ASPECT frontend for The yt project is moving along! Still some kinks to work through but here's a pretty image of mantle convection in a spherical shell (temperature field overlaid with velocity vectors and adaptively refined grid).

We love getting to see the ways people use yt_astro!

We were born 10 years ago! Back then, Keith gave us 🥧 and then ehsteve an image of the sun (of course, there was only b&w back then). Now we've got colours and - you could say - 3D too! 🎉🎉🎉 🎂 🎉🎉🎉 Happy Birthday to us!! Thanks to everyone who has helped us over the years!

The potential for this is staggering. The file-mapping approach inherent to The yt project, married with the 3D napari visualisation, has just enabled me to swing and zoom around a 35 Gb simulation file in NEAR-REALTIME. How insane is that?
