The new ASPECT frontend for The yt project is moving along! Still some kinks to work through but here's a pretty image of mantle convection in a spherical shell (temperature field overlaid with velocity vectors and adaptively refined grid).
Hey everyone, I just released ytree 3.0. ytree is meant to be The yt project for merger trees. It has several new features and supports 5 new data formats. It's also faster and uses less memory. Check it out at ytree.readthedocs.io. Thanks to the yt community and Manodeep Sinha (@[email protected])!

Trying out a sorta new thing today -- The yt project office hours. In about an hour I'll go live at twitch.tv/powersoffour to work on yt pull requests, issues, etc, and to answer questions or work through stuff. Stop by if you want to chat or get some help.
Some The yt project -related development lately has been using pydantic, and today Chris Havlin posted up how he was leveraging it to build out magicgui widgets for the napari + yt work: chrishavlin.github.io/post/magicpyda… (this is so cool, Chris!)
We are hiring at iSchool at Illinois to work full-time on The yt project , specifically for non-astro stuff! Please share, and I'm happy to answer whatever questions I can. jobs.illinois.edu/academic-job-b… mail.python.org/archives/list/…
