If you buy into "agile is processing tickets" then all your focus becomes "how do we make tickets better?" People DO focus really hard on making the tickets as excellent as possible. What if it's all about collaboration, feedback, and technical excellence instead?

Building “local first” is such an advantage. It’s a silent one that alone will not make for a superior product. But I’m more and more convinced you cannot have a superior product within productivity tools (perhaps even some dev tools?) that are not local first.

this makes the classic mistake of equating code as the product. everyone can cook at home but yet restaurants still exist. the floor is rising but so is the ceiling. differentiation is more important than ever

Just heard of a utilities government company that is going bankrupt after their IT arm went all-in on Scrum and SAFe, rewrote a billing system, and that billing system got delayed long enough that they could not collect revenue, and ran out of money. Oh man.

This meme has been resurfacing recently, being credited to the PMI, when it is something that I published in 1999 and 2001, rather daring assertions for the time, and have been teaching for 25 years, but which PMI is now publicizing as fact and claiming credit for. /1

when i started thinking of prompts as queries into a highly compressed (lossy) database, my frustration with open source LLMs mostly went away and my results got much better
