Using pattern blocks to represent fractions and count fractions greater than one.

Today was the Petman Birthday Extravaganza, which my students believed was just a birthday celebration but was actually an opportunity to celebrate and appreciate the little community we have built in this room. I’m so grateful for this little pack of goofballs!

Today we learned how to create a mind map, which doubled as a celebration for the massive amounts of information we learned over the last few weeks.

This week we explored numbers and place value with a visit to Grandma Eudora’s t-shirt factory and some time spent building the number 2000. Next week we’ll try to model numbers into the hundred thousands!

Ancient Cultures Day is back! It was so great to showcase our work for parents and so lovely to see these third graders performing songs from around the world. ☺️

I told him Sharyn Prindle said I had to make sure he loses now and then so he can learn to be a gracious loser but she is overestimating my ability at foosball and he’s like 10-0 now. Guess we have to work on being a gracious winner instead.

It’s hard to tell which is more fun, the actual field trip or the bus ride!
