Claremont Faculty for Justice in Palestine have released a statement saying they are “appalled” by the college’s actions. “On Friday afternoon Pomona College took aggressive action against the protesters, infringing on their rights to free speech and peaceful protest.”

With another semester ending, here's your annual reminder that teaching evaluations systemically disadvantage women. Even when controlling for grades and other factors, students (esp. males) consistently give female professors lower scores. This can have serious ramifications.🧵

The one paper I can't stop thinking about from #CHI2024 is the nocebo effect paper: "The Placebo effect is robust to negative descriptions of AI". This was really stellar work with wide ramifications for the field. Should've gotten Best Paper. arxiv.org/abs/2309.16606
