Big congrats to Abner Smith III and Wharton Wildcats Football tonight! First win as a high school head coach!!!!!

Some down and dirty stats from Wharton-Freedom: Wildcat RB CJ Hilton ran 13 times for 127 yards, including 43- and 54-yard touchdown runs....and returned the opening kick for 85 yards. That's not too shabby for a kid making his varsity debut.

Wharton QB Hassan Corley was 9-for-14 for 94 yards and a TD, and ran for 79 yards. His touchdown was to Woo Greene for 33 yards, as Green went on to finish with four catches for 76 yards.

And of course Wharton coach Abner Smith II got his first win as a head coach.
