“Details of the WGA’s tentative agreement haven’t been released yet but will be revealed by the guild in advance of the membership ratification votes. Pay raises and streaming residuals have been key issues for the guild, along with AI and writers room staffing levels.”

So many people worked so hard to make this happen! I'm so proud of our members (and our amazing staff)! Eager to continue standing with SAG-AFTRA in their ongoing fight for a fair deal too! I'm very emotional!!!

We'll be re-allocating our remaining hydration funds to continue to support the SAG-AFTRA picket lines with snacks & drinks, and to aid the ECF💙 (1/3)

If you picketed. If you donated. If you retweeted/reposted voices, messages, links. If you dropped off water, food, supplies. If you drove by and honked. If you reached out to check on us. If you’re a worker who’s since went on strike. If you supported. This is your win, too.

It took five days of good faith negotiation by the studios to reach a deal. Every other day of the strike was unnecessary lost time caused by the studios petulantly refusing to sit down and talk like adults

FOR THOSE KEEPING SCORE: ☻ WGA has stopped picketing ☻ WGA is still on strike pending the deal (congrats!!) ☻ SAG-AFTRA is still striking ☻ SAG-AFTRA is still picketing ☻ The Animation Guild contract expires July 31, 2024

Once again, #SagAftraMembers have come together in support of their peers, voting overwhelmingly — with 98.32% in favor — to approve a strike authorization on the Interactive Media Agreement ahead of a return to negotiations.

i hope this strike makes it clear -- no union stands alone in this town. dga can't work without sag. wga can't work without iatse and teamsters. and the only way to ensure our collective survival is to stand with each other. #wgastrong #SAGAFTRAStrong #1u

This is actually hilarious to me. These companies already have a trade association - the AMPTP, an organization whose name you’ve, well, heard a lot lately. They’re basically trying a lobbying rebrand because the optics around their previous trade group became so toxic.

The WGA reached a tentative agreement with the AMPTP. Today, our Negotiating Committee, WGAW Board, and WGAE Council all voted unanimously to recommend the agreement. The strike ends at 12:01 am. Check out our deal at wgacontract2023.org/deal. #WGAStrong

✅Minimum room size. ✅Pay increases. ✅AI can't write. ✅Disclosure of streaming numbers w/ residuals to match. ✅Guaranteed 2nd step for screenwriters. ✅Script fees for staff writers. ✅Writing teams get full payment into pension (this is huge for me specifically) Hell. Yes.

This deal is incredible in so many ways. But this took my breath away: "In addition to the... writer designated by the Company to make hiring decisions... (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Showrunner’)…” Showrunner is now officially defined in the MBA. AS A WRITER. #WGAStrong

Teams get insurance now too. Guaranteed second step. Accelerated payment schedule for features. AI protections. Script feed for staff writers. Increased residuals. Increased foreign residual for streaming movies made for more than 30 million.
