Is there a good reason why manufacturers don’t make non-elastic toe-ties or straps with their pads? The Warrior system is simple and elegant. If the already adjustable strap was made a bit longer and without elastic, I feel like it would be perfect. Am I missing something?

It’s the same reason cars aren’t colorful anymore and houses are made/staged as neutrally as possible. Bold design elements turn off more potential customers than they attract. Beige cubes might not wow me, but they also don’t repel anyone. Whimsy isn’t profitable at scale.

If every other journalist doesn’t repeat Mark’s question (and nothing else) until it’s answered, that’s craven. I don’t care if you personally believe the players are totally innocent and the team is perfectly justified to employ them. The principle’s too important to politicize.

As much as I hate fun and joy and goalies and all that crap, this was pretty good.
