Squirrels have also celebrated Red Nose Day the Forest school way! They searched the forest for facts on animals' sense of smell. Then they set off to find their favourite smell in the woods and explain why they liked it.

Badgers have been hard at work creating more path boarders for the sensory garden. We were also lucky enough to do some frog watching, too.

Today Owls have learnt about animals and their babies. We were lucky enough to have a look at the frogspawn in the pond. Plus, we made natural portraits of our Mums as it's Mother's Day on Sunday.

Look at Squirrels fantastic natural portraits of their Mums/ mother figures! The children worked hard on these, plus, they also matched adult and baby pictures, collected sticks for a bug hotel and observed the frogspawn for 2 minutes.

Badgers have started filling two bug hotels in the sensory garden. They collected lots of sticks and found items around the area to help carry them.

Today in Maths, A asked Mrs Redford if she knew what the perimeter of our school field was, and she didn't know. So, all the year 4's went outside to calculate it! Brilliant team work shown. Such a great way to get stuck into our new maths topic!

Yesterday Owls showed off their impressive fire knowledge, they explained the fire triangle and what we need to have a safe fire. Then they had a go at making a spark with a fire striker.

Squirrels have learnt all about spring. We talked about and looked for the signs of spring. Then we collected as much blossom as we could and threw it around liked confetti!

Badgers had a competition to see who could plant and water the bush first! We now have two new bushes in our outside area. Then we enjoyed the sunshine whilst we learnt some knots to make gods eyes (or Ojo de Dios, are a traditional Huichol craft, a woven symbol of protection.

Today we reminded everyone about how to stay safe in the forest before we headed off to explore as it has been a while. Whilst exploring we spotted some of the hazards we had been reminded about.

Quote of the day! "Wow! It’s nice in here, It’s so quiet." Rabbits and Hedgehogs went off in search of Spring things today. Whilst looking for these we also had dens built, trees climbed, and drinks served.

Foxes have been exploring the forest this week and looking for any changes they can spot. We then had a lovely discussion about what changes we found and why they have happened.

First, we enjoyed the new spring growth by playing hide and seek. Then, we were challenged to collect 80 sticks as it's the 80th celebration of VE Day. We used these sticks to create pictures to celebrate VE Day.
