I'll not deny it - watching Paul and Bob roam the hillsides, standing in rivers and generally being gents is the only programme of 'now' that I watch. Give me my telly slippers; I am late middle aged and embrace it gladly. 😉📺🇬🇧♥️

The #BeaverMoon rises on Wed 5 Nov. So-called by Native Americans as beavers are very active on this #fullmoon. The largest #supermoon of the year, it is also known as the #MourningMoon, a time for healing grief before the #winterequinox. #FairyTaleTuesday #LegendaryWednesday

The stunning beauty of a field maple💛🧡🍁❤️💜 In autumn, as the dominant chlorophyll breaks down, the riot of colour hidden by that green is revealed - the yellows and oranges of carotenoids💛🧡 along with the reds and purples of anthocyanins ❤️💜

The joy of spindle berries - a shock of hot pink and orange in the November hedgerow🩷🧡🤎 They hang from thin, straight branches, once used to make spindles - hence the name🩷 In the language of flowers spindles mean 'your charms are engraven on my heart'💗

#StNicholasDay is 6 Dec. On this day the legendary miracle worker #StNicholas, Bishop of Myra, died in 343 AD. He is the patron saint of sailors, merchants, archers, thieves, harlots & brewers, & especially of children, to whom he is the model for #SantaClaus. #FolkloreSunday

The reign of the Holly King over the dark half of the year is peaking & will reach its zenith at the #WinterSolstice. The Celts regarded the holly tree, with its red berries, as a symbol of fertility & to hold the power of eternity, as it is an evergreen. #FolkloreSunday

Just learnt a lovely folk tradition which links together the liturgical year 💚❤️💚 Traditionally, the holly & ivy gathered now to decorate the home at Christmas is taken down on Twelfth Night & then stored to be burnt in the fire that cooks the Shrove Tuesday pancakes🥞

The luminous wonder of mistletoe 🤍💚🤍 After Loki killed Balder with mistletoe, the tears of Frigg - his mother-goddess of love and beauty - became its berries. When the gods raised Balder back to life, she kissed them in gratitude - hence kissing under the mistletoe 💚🤍💚
