The Mavericks had a homegrown star backcourt with Luka Doncic and Jalen Brunson. On the verge of a full-scale breakout, Dallas refused to pay Brunson a four-year, $55 million extension. Three years later, Dallas traded Doncic. A truly historic fumble of a franchise’s future.

I agree, and what is worse, this concept is obviously false. If most science was irreproducible we would not make progress at anywhere near the pace that we regularly do. In my field I can think of only a few papers that are wrong, the vast majority of the work has either led to

We are excited to share a new preprint that discovered how skin fibroblasts are active participants in acute and long-term pain states and not just bystanders. We know this research partly funded by the NIH will drive the development of new pain drugs. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

"Some of the University of Utah researchers had been studying how best to care for critically ill babies in rural communities. Others were focused on reducing the disproportionately high rates of skin cancer in those same remote areas."

Some excellent career advice for the future from Prof Peter Hotez MD PhD. Would be great for The University of Texas System to start thinking about some of these ideas as well to make sure we are ready to be innovative in the face of current challenges.
