After using Volta: The Hassle-Free JavaScript Tool Manager for a week, it’s hard to fathom why it isn’t the standard way of doing versioning in the node ecosystem. It runs laps around stuff like nvm. Makes me feel much safer when switching projects (and it’s crazy fast)

TIL about Volta: The Hassle-Free JavaScript Tool Manager. It's like NVM but easier. Imagine having specific version of Node or NPM defined in your JavaScript's package.json, and merely by installing Volta, you can "pin" that version to the file and it will auto download and use it locally. 🔥

I have to support some large projects with mixed nodejs versions. Running builds via GitLab can be a real pain when you have to work with multiple node versions. After struggling with it for some time I decided to create a Volta Docker image (Volta: The Hassle-Free JavaScript Tool Manager). gist.github.com/garth/48eabf4b…

I switch between 4-6 Node.js projects every week, they go from versions 12 to 16. Recently started using Volta for managing versions and it's a breath of fresh air.

Appreciating Volta: The Hassle-Free JavaScript Tool Manager today! I discovered an issue that only happened on some dev machines, and could be fixed by upgrading the node version. With the volta config in our package.json files, everyone should be using the same node version and automatically get the fix.
