Here is an admission that WordPress.com is currently a “bastardized simulacra of GPL code”. It’s “not WordPress” according to his own defn. Are the other Foundation board members aware you are marketing something as “WordPress” that isn’t? Isn’t that a TM violation?

How can we best support women in WordPress? I've been bouncing around ideas and looking for existing solutions and maybe some ways I haven't thought of. What is currently out there? What do you wish was out there? How can we best support women in #WordPress?

hehe WPE piggybacking off Willman to tut-tut at Mullenweg for misleading the court is just good, old-fashion fun.

What we thought happened: giving up control of a trademark. What really happened: Automattic turned over all rights to the WordPress marks to the Foundation and then simultaneously had the WordPress Foundation license the commercial rights to the marks back to Automattic.

After sneakytits85 posted this, I read the entire thing. Its long but a great summary read! Provided by both WP Engine and Matt Mullenweg : Descriptions of the lawsuit, time lines, claims, etc .. Here's are some of my key takeaways: (Note: IANAL, and sorry for length of post)

You told us the foundation exists so WP would live on “in perpetuity” no matter what happened to you/A8C. There’s been 15 years of donations to ensure WP survives stuff like this. Redirecting donations to IA (etc) then implying the project is in financial peril is problematic.
