Story with a happy ending:)

🦅Nothing illustrates the end of summer for me quite like a few moulted sea eagle feathers on a browning bracken boulder with accompanying bell heather🪶🍂. And a nicely empty nest after a long wait for a chick to fly. Now well on its way. Adults can chill a bit now. Job done😉👏

Thank you for keeping an eye on her. She seems to have done well there 🐰🐰🐰We're hoping she drifts on south & home to OnTheWight: Isle of Wight News & NOT back to #Mull where she started her journey in 2019 (that's her behind her sibling G3/17), on collection & release day 😉👍🦅

Remember this desolate shot of a 2020 nest, falling out, no sign of sea eagles anywhere & I'd pretty much written it off for 2021? That was just 1 week ago. I thought I'd look again at dusk just now🔭5 sea eagles hanging out!😲At least 3 adults🤔2 imms🤨All bets are off🦅Need🍸🙄

Ad sea eagle pr suddenly took off & disappeared over the far horizon just to put me off the scent but I'll be back!😏 As the light faded-now about 5.30/6pm-these 3 imms drifted in. Some fantastic aerobatics, talon grapples & play in a Baltic breeze before settling for the night🥶

Still on frustrating trail of pr of sea eagles🦅giving me run around (no change there😆) Suddenly, I spied them! Miles from where I'm searching, just above track, teasing me. Drove round corner & there they were. Finally flew off over trees & lost. Rain set in🌧️Not seen again😠😭

In about 1 weeks time, it will be 2 yrs since incubation started....🦅🐣🦅 (2020 didn’t go to plan for them either)

They’ve been making us a bit nervous with their absence in the last few days. Nice to wake up to this today🎶

A visit from this young one a few days ago too. Not Ringed so not Max (fledgling from 2019)🦅

There has only been 1 🦅from this nest-he was ringed. ‘Max’ has returned to his nest since he fledged Aug 2019. There are a few young ones in the area and occasionally an unidentified one pops in to the camera frame 📷 this clip of 4 🦅 is from 2019 bit.ly/4inNest

And then the nest lay empty..... But - they have flitted to a 2nd home & incubation has began🤞Here he had been busy building all morning as she stood by and watched. Just as he stops, she flies away for the last time. It seems he built a better choice elsewhere this year:) 🦅🦅

2008 - we sat tagged 1st ever Scottish juv sea eagle Mara. A chick of Skye&Frisa of BBC Springwatch fame Forestry and Land Scotland 5 yrs later he settled w/ mate & was/is a regular for Loch Shiel Cruises Tag fell off as planned & retrieved. He's still there age 13!😁🦅😅 scotsman.com/news/environme…
