It's awesome to see one of my favorite images to teach about chest radiography published in Journal of Brown Hospital Medicine Any portable chest x-ray can show you birdshot, but only the lateral can tell you that the patient was shot in the back.

The coffee was mediocre at best, but for this man it was worth risking his life for. My essay, "The Coffee Contract," in Journal of Hospital Medicine about remembering what really matters in the hospital: …mpublications.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/jh…

I’ve had a great time attending my first SHM Converge. It was a blast competing in the Med-Ted teaching competition with such talented educators and a huge honor to win. Grateful to Chris Moriates, MD, @SatyaPatelMD and so many others at VA GLA/UCLA for their support. #SHMConverge24

It’s a bummer to leave #SHMConverge24 but I’m excited to continue on to #AIMW24 now that I’ve officially made my connecting flight with mere minutes to spare!

The greatest unit of measurement has to be the Banana Equivalent Dose (BED) for radiation exposure. Though I do wonder if it just makes people afraid to eat bananas rather than helping them understand ionizing radiation exposure.

This is your periodic reminder that a chest x-ray has the same level of radiation exposure as eating 1000 bananas. A lethal dose of radiation is the same as eating 100,000,000 bananas. Though eating 100,000,000 bananas in a sitting probably isn't good for you either.

🧵for the new residents and students on the meaning of 'French' and 'Gauge'. We've covered this on here in the past, but a lot of new people are starting on surgical rotations, so let's look at them again. As usual, we'll cover their history and what they mean. (1/ )

It is a profound honor to receive the VA David Worthen Rising Star Award for excellence in health professions education. I am beyond grateful for the village of people- mentors, colleagues, trainees, and patients- who have helped to shape me as a physician and educator.

I am not sure who (if any) from #MedTwitter is still on here, but I will be giving a talk Society of Hospital Medicine #shmconverge25 on Thursday 4/24 focused on clinical images and physical diagnosis. If you're attending, come on by and say hi!
