Besides Elly De La Cruz, only one other big league shortstop is known to have posted a game with 4+ hits and 4+ stolen bases: Hall of Famer George Davis on June 14, 1905! baseball-reference.com/boxes/WS1/WS11…

Think ads on pro baseball uniforms are getting out of hand? Actually, it's nothing new. Craig Brown's research shows that the Minneapolis Millers wore these audacious uniforms in May 1895 before the ad was removed for surprising reasons. Here's the story: threadsofourgame.com/1895-minneapol…

A little news broke just as our @BaseballHall ceremony was starting on Sunday and it reminded me that we had not yet shared this incredible letter from President Biden regarding our recent efforts to highlight Black Baseball. What an honor to receive this letter from the White House.

This photo of Cardinals great Lou Brock taken after his final big league game, September 30, 1979, is so good for so many reasons. Love the sign near his head. And what's that taped to his locker? A 1979 Topps baseball card of his teammate, Garry Templeton!

As the trade deadline looms, we are always hit with these silly trade rumor photo "mock-ups." Seriously, as long as you're trying to imagine what Paul Goldschmidt might look like with the Mariners, why not at least have him wearing a helmet that is made for a right-handed batter?

Fun typo by the New York Times: “… Novak Djokovic receives the crowing glory of his illustrious tennis career …” I guess he can crow all he wants now.

This 100th anniversary logo is awesome. What many fans might not be aware of is that the design was inspired by Washington's 1924 World Series press pin.

Danny Jansen was at bat with an 0-1 count when the 6/26 BOS-TOR game was suspended. If only it had been an 0-2 count. Then, if Jansen’s pinch-hitter on 8/26 struck out, the K would be charged to Jansen, not his PHer. Catcher Jansen could have made the put out on batter Jansen!
