This Wednesday, we're going to be placing eco friendly straw bales to help trap sand and build up the dunes. We're looking for volunteers to help us set up the bales (they're quite heavy!) If you want to get involved, we're meeting at the end of the Burrows carpark at 11am 😄

Don't miss Rocks with Robbie next Monday! Sure to be a fascinating talk 😁 And if you have any interesting rocks you'd like to know more about, bring them along and Robbie will be happy to take a look at them 🪨

Thank you to everyone who helped with the straw bales today, including Waterford City & County Council and students from Ardscoil na Mara - an Edmund Rice School. 😁 We also planted some marram grass and fixed some of the fencing, so a great morning for protecting the sand dunes!

A beautiful morning for our beach clean today ☀️ And welcome to some of our new faces too 😁 Sadly, still a lot of fishing rope and plastic to be found on the beach ☹️

The clocks have fallen back, evenings are darker, and there’s a chill in the air. Did you know winter is an important season for nature and wildlife? 🍂 Fallen leaves enrich soil 🦡 Nocturnal animals thrive   🍄‍🟫Most wild mushrooms appear  #ForestsForNature

A huge thanks to Stuart and Sam from Seal Rescue Ireland for rescuing this seal pup from the Backstrand today. The pup is around 8-10 weeks old, and although thankfully she's uninjured she's quite weak 🦭 Fingers crossed for her to make a full recovery!

A very windy beach clean today! There was a huge amount of rubbish and plastic on the beach, including fishing rope and plastic containers filled with oil 🙁 On a less serious note, we also found some chillies and a lemon! 🌶️ 🍋

This Wednesday at 10am, we will be placing more straw bales in the sand dunes to protect them from erosion, and we need volunteers to help carry and place the bales. If you’d like to get involved, we’ll be meeting at the end of the Burrows car park at 10am 😊
