The game is up for privatisation and the neo-liberal ideology that underpinned it. A National Education Service offers real hope.

.Jeremy Corbyn is right to say children's chances have been damaged by school cuts and austerity. In recent NEU survey 60% teachers said they'd seen an increase in pupils coming to school hungry since 2015. Hungry kids aren't ready to learn #ITVDebate #VoteEducation #GE2019

Here’s a reminder of how some people talk about “school improvement”. Look at number 4: “exclude poor quality students”. What a way to describe our young people. Exclude them to go where? To someone else’s school? To the streets? #ValueEducation #VoteEducation

The Conservatives are not at the #c4debate but we've done the maths on their, Labour & Lib Dem plans for school funding in England at the #GE19 election. 📘 Loss per child of - £269 📒 Gain per child of + £10 📕 Gain per child of + £197 Learn more👉schoolcuts.org.uk

Also - pretty hilariously - the story that won the award both Edu ministers Agnew and Gibb publicly tried to dismiss our story as taking things out of context. They said it was all just sensationalised journalism 🙄

Now tell me who’s financially incompetent, cos it sure wasn’t Labour that introduced this useless, wasteful privatisation of our schools

Whatever their income, parents shouldn't feel under pressure to make donations to pay for school essentials like books and pencils. Education should be free and accessible for all pupils. There’s lots here I was unaware of. It’s also a timely reminder of the excellent work of Warwick Mansell. Please share & subscribe to his site educationuncovered.co.uk It’s a small fee - see it as a donation to enable this kind of important investigative journalism to continue.

Fantastic news and total sour grapes from New Horizons Academy Trust. The simple fact is that Moulsecoomb Primary is now making great progress under its current leadership and the local community campaign @HandsOffMPS is fearless 💪👊

Mr Chips (@fergus_turnip) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The DfE have tried the same tactic across the uk: suggesting a school may close if it isn’t rebrokered rapidly and forced some communities to accept trusts they don’t want by saying its the only choice or face closure. No thinking time, no discussion or debating time.

Insulting and poor academy trust pulls out ... "The last thing our children need is the instability of [an academy] trust with a poor track record taking over our school so it’s great news to hear that this sponsor has pulled out.” We agree. theargus.co.uk/news/18108563.…

Labour Council leader supports parents & staff opposed to forced academisation of Brighton school and reveals that even the Academy Trust offered the school by DfE, because they say Ofsted said it was failing, believes it is improving. theargus.co.uk/news/18119877.…

This is becoming a twitter trend: school leaders leaving schools in the most deprived areas, where they are needed most, because of Ofsted. Tell me please Ofsted how this raises standards of education for the poorest pupils?
