Todd Owyoung In the music world specifically, it was first the jump from live shows to doing paid promo photos. This lead me to start getting paid by managers to shoot shows, then other entertainment companies and labels.

I’ve lived in this city for a decade. Even so, every time I’m in a taxi from LaGuardia going back to Brooklyn and I catch a glimpse of the Manhattan skyline, my heart swells with a nameless pride to call NYC home.

My advice would be to find as much joy as you can in your craft as an amateur. You'll know when you've reached the level of a professional skill set. The hours put in will reflect that.

I had a stranger asking me how much for the photos I took at his DIY venue vs the singer of the band I started with still expecting free photos after a few months 😬 that and more encouragement from friends made me start charging

My tipping point went from feeling unappreciated and feeling it was expected always. I can't always do free work and I do it to build my portifluo and help others. But always expecting was and will forever be my tipping point
