Back in Durham after a great time at #TSG2020! Lovely to see everyone's work and to meet twitter friends. Always a pleasure to go with Durham Earth Science (sorry to those missed out of the photo!) Thank you TSG 2020 Hull #itsTSGforme
Hello #Geotwitter! We'll be posting about Structural research Durham Earth Science 🌍🏔️⛏️ 📷 Tim Armitage Micro faulted plagioclase from Shetland 📷 Jack Lee Normal faulting in the Cleveland Basin
The first virtual Faultea meeting was a tea-riffic success! Fun to catch up with colleagues and friends via Microsoft Tea-ms. Looking forward to next week ☕☕ Durham Earth Science Durham University
A few pre-PhD jobs: 1. Waiter at a wine bar 2. Cleaner at my school and local sports hall 3. Sales assistant at a bike shop 4. Summer intern at the University of British Columbia p.s. Here's a photo of 15 yr old Tim being a scientist @mazstow @tectonictweets Phoebe Sleath
Great #Faultea today, it was a delight to have Katy Burrows for her final year PhD talk! "Rapid Landslide Detection for Emergency Response" Durham Earth Science UK COMET 🖥️👩🏻💻🌍
Our annual bbq couldn't happen this summer 😢 so we had a department-wide quiz instead! Hello to everyone from us at Durham Earth Science! Huge thanks to Tim Armitage and @Volcannabelle for organising! 🎉🥳
New paper! Today we take you to Shetland! From Tim Armitage and others! "Late Carboniferous dextral transpressional reactivation of the crustal-scale Walls Boundary Fault, Shetland: the role of pre-existing structures and lithological heterogeneities" doi.org/10.1144/jgs202…
Are you interested in fault reactivation? Are you curious about Shetland? Intrigued by transpression? Then check out my new paper! IAPETUS DTP Durham Structural Group Durham Earth Science #PhD #Shetland jgs.lyellcollection.org/content/early/…

Excited to present my research Population Genetics Group conference tomorrow in session 1!! I'll be talking about using genomics to understand population history and adaptation across island bird populations 🦤#PGG54
Extrusion of ductile material in transpression zones has been modelled by rarely observed. On Friday, Tim Armitage will discuss how extrusion is a kinematic necessity and show an example from Shetland — presenting at #TSG50.
Shetland shows complex array of opposing shear sense orientations. Could this be evidence for ductile extrusion during the Caledonian orogeny? Check out our presentation at #vEGU21 session TS7.11 Durham Earth Science
Honoured to give this plenary talk at the Hydrogen as a Fuel #conference in St Andrews on #hydrogen storage in porous rocks. Plenty of new faces and ideas emerged from the conference and I'll certainly be taking feedback home with me!
