When I was younger, we didn't study about the important contribution of African women in history. In the folk stories we were told, most of them were about animals. Those with human characters portrayed women as lazy or evil or greedy.

I wanted to change that by bringing stories for children and young adults that are hopeful, show how both girls and boys can be strong and that we all have important stories to be told.

These books have been more than 10 years in the making. The collection is the 2nd edition published in hard copy by @Ibuajournal and @Threestone_UG, and will be officially launched on 29th April 2023 @Sankara_library

Today's book reading was a pre-launch event in proud partnership with Kabojja International School as part of the school's Book Week. Coincidentally, 15th March is also "Drop Everything and Read Day"! We had such an enthusiastic crowd of about 100 primary students and teachers.

They eagerly listened to the story and came up with their own imaginative alternative endings to the book. The children had great follow up questions about what it takes to become an author. Many of them are already budding writers!

We ended with a lively competition where the 3 winners will get free copies of the books at the official book launch. I'm deeply grateful to my publishing team at @IbuaJournal and threestoneproduction Productions for supporting me to bring these stories to life in hard copy.

Yesterday, we were hosted at Kabojja International School where Christine Butegwa, the author of #MightyAngwech and other stories held a public reading for the children. Being the first for her and for us as well, we were very delighted to have this experience. 1/
