Economists: 'People vote their pocketbooks' People: 'Yep' Sociologists: 'People vote their identities' People: 'Yep' Evolutionary psychologists: 'Also, people sometimes vote for their perceived reproductive & genetic interests' People: WHAT KIND OF CYNICAL MONSTERS ARE YOU?

'43% of recent college grads are underemployed'? A cynic might rephrase as '43% of a trillion-dollar industry's customers were swindled out of massive amounts of money by false promises and media hype about the economic value of a college degree'

A person with average intelligence that is super motivated will outperform a lazy genius. Intelligence is the most overrated quality in business.

Evolutionary psychology is Apollonian theories & methods applied to Dionysian processes & instincts. So, Dionysians hate the theories & methods, and Apollonians hate the processes & instincts. Hence the field's PR problems.

My takeaway from The Incerto by Nassim Nicholas Taleb is that most biases are optical illusions that appear when human behavior is viewed from a risk perspective and completely disappear when viewed from a ruin perspective.

Roboticists invent tiny assassinbots that can climb up your house's vertical walls and slip inside your bedroom at night. More or less.

1- Ignore surveys. Pple think they prefer restaurants 1) quiet so they can tawk, 2) roomy, 3) no line. Yet they flock to 1) loud, 2) cramped restaurants 3) w/50 min wait. Never ask pple what they want, watch what they do. Revelation of preferences. #SkinInTheGame

2- How to make a survey work by via negativa. To assess if a book will survive, find an academic/someone who plays the system. If they say "well organized", "well written", or "original", odds are the book flops. If they say "messy", "whimsical", the book will outlive him/her.

3- Current bibles: The Bible, Wealth of Nations, Das Kapital, Works by Aquinas, Montaigne, etc. They fail editorial criteria. Editors don't understand books, Academics don't get scholarship. Why? Rory Sutherland : employees' objective is minimizing blame in case of failure.

Titiana McGrath, the brilliant satirist, has now been suspended?!?! This is bad. Really bad. Things are getting worse by the day.

I unapologetically love “Love Actually” despite its ridiculous corniness and I love Stephen Marche’s writing despite him hating what I love. I remain a fan of both.

My side of the story clearly presented. As the saying goes, an ounce of algebra clears a ton of BS, even when the BS comes from someone with >3 million twitter followers.

Holy shit, this article (in an LGBT magazine no less) actually argues that it's racist and colonialist for Trump to put pressure on Iran to decriminalise homosexuality and that Iran is actually 'not that bad' when it comes to homosexuality anyway. 😂😂😂 x.com/outmagazine/st…
