Spanish is mostly straightforward but what often trips me up is asistir means "to attend" and atender means "to listen."

Being an anesthetist can feel weird sometimes. In the morning I'm sticking needles and medicine into people's backs for spinals and running gases and drips to keep them asleep for surgery. Hours later I'm at home baby talking to my two cats and playing video games.
