A major outburst of Comet 29P/Schwassmann–Wachmann occurred in late September. This animation of the expanding dust shell runs from September 28 to October 5. In the last frame the dust shell is around 200,000km diameter,

Comet C/2021 A1 (Leonard) 2021 Oct 10 11:52 UT from Mayhill New Mexico. Image scale is 20 x 20' with North at top. 12th Magnitude would appear about right.

Updated animation of Comet 29P Outburst. Now running from Sep 28 to Oct 10. Scale is just under 6' high, with north at top.

Comet Leonard from New Mexico December 5. Using iTelescopes T21 0.43-m f/6.8 reflector and a 15 minute exposure. Although there have been some concerns about the health of the comet it's still showing a good amount of activity.

Comet Leonard currently undergoing a large flare atm. I estimate it to be mag 2.5

14 degrees of tail on Comet Leonard, Dec 25th (10hrs UT) from near Jondaryn, QLD. Fascinating watching this comet change night to night.

Great view of Comet Leonard last night (Jan 1 11hrs UT). Its still visible to the naked eye from a reasonably good sky.

Sorting through some older images, image from 2005 clearly shows proper motion of Alpha Centauri compared to a photo a few nights ago. The FOV is 30x30' (ie would just frame the moon)

I wonder if this is dust from the Tunga Ha‘apai volcanic eruption last month? What a spectacular evening twilight!
