Entering retirement to rest every day, eat, consume media, walk, etc. seems to lack meaning — should at least go volunteer. I don’t think I’ll ever retire in that sense. My goal is freedom from a day job to spend prime daylight hours on meaningful projects, for rest of my life

It would be great to have a Natural Language Processing #NLP application that allows you to type in keywords (themes, concepts, etc) & it produces a list of contextually relevant books i.e. for early education, finding good children’s literature to support current learning units

The concept of pesticide, that we we spray toxic poison on the food we eat, is bizarre. Especially with emerging technologies, we should be able to develop effective food production without pesticides (like indoor vertical agriculture, using 99% less water) and bug systems, etc

Common advice is to start learning JavaScript, or start with HTML/CSS and build up from there. Not me, gonna jump right into Swift and making iOS APPs. Sure, over time I’ll want to learn more foundational concepts, etc, though rather get started now creating than waiting

If our goal is to assess student acquisition of new knowledge, understandings, and skills, then we should never use multiple choice and true/false assessments (not authentic and guessing skews data). Performance assessments are best, whether process and/or product based

I see a disconnect between what speakers and leaders at school groups say (implementing future of education) and the day-to-day practices of individual teachers in schools in their planning & instruction (lecture; students write notes, take paper tests; teacher says students do)

Was playing with my 3yo daughter using a small ‘Gingerbread Man’ puppet. She asked “What does the gingerbread man eat?” me-“I don’t know, what do you think?” her-“He eats meat.” I find her answer both hilarious and terrifying to think about 😂
