Denoon of Pithogarty This 17th-century gravestone is one of the oldest in the graveyard. The inscription in Scots reads: "Heir lyis ane honorable man called Alexander Denoon of Pithogarty _ _ _ departit the XX day of August 1610."

Pictish Stones of Easter Ross A drawing of a fragment of Pictish stone bearing a Latin inscription was found at Tarbat Manse, Portmahomack, in the late 19th century. Reads, "In the name of Jesus Christ, the cross of Christ in memory of Reo...lius... on this day."

Fearchair-a-Ghunna Among the museum's photos of Tain Worthies' is this image of Farquhar Maclennan, a notorious smuggler from Strathconan. Farquhar was given the cognomen of Fearchair-a-Ghunna (Farquhar of the Gun), as he was often seen carrying a large six-barrelled gun.

Murdoch Ross Thanks to Rhoda Ross from Canada for sharing this photo of Murdoch Ross with us. Born in Edderton in 1802, Murdoch emigrated to Glengarry, Canada, around 1823 before settling in South Lancaster, where he worked as a wheelwright.

G. A. Ross-Tain Motor Cycle Depot A photo of the Tain Motor Cycle Depot, which was situated at the top of King Street. The shop was destroyed by fire in 1909, and although the family were away, their poor spaniel, pictured here on the motorcycle, "perished in the flames."
