Chang gave an invaluable presentation about fundraising basics on day two of Startup Boston Week 2024. “Decoding Startup Funding” was chock full of valuable tips for any level of founder, like: Sources for your first dollar: explore revenue, grants, equity, partners, and debt.

Three questions founders should know by heart: How much are you raising? What’s the money being used for? What are your key milestones? (The last is where founders trip up most, says Chang.) He took questions from the audience—many of whom were founders themselves.

And he closed with one big tip: Anchor your summit AND your basecamp, meaning: be able to tell people both your big vision AND where you are today in two minutes. (Chang’s ABC? Aim at a tight target. Break down barriers. Create FOMO.) #sbw2024
