Ask simple questions that are 5 words or less. "How was that?" "Which reps felt better?" "What happened that time?" "Did you notice a difference?" "What worked well there? Any longer, and you risk the chance of them being leading questions. #coachthehuman #theartofcoaching

When clients and members feel safe and cared for, INCREDIBLE things happen. Movement, strength, emotions, trust, and choice, are all expressed more freely. And this makes for a gym full of happy and fulfilled humans. #coachthehuman

If you want to run a spit and sawdust gym, that's cool - literally. But if you want your gym to feel like home, it needs to be warm in every sense. #coachthehuman

When you have friends and family to your home. You greet them at door, take their coats, and warmly, and personally usher them in. The greeting at your gym should feel like that too. Have a human front of house and make sure it feels less like gatekeeping and more like welcoming.

Show genuine personal interest. Acknowledge their emotions "You seem happy" "You seem worried" "You seem sad". These are totally OK to say - you've not offended them, and if they have, you may have picked up on something fundamental to how they are showing up today #coachthehuman

Coffee is never just about coffee. Coffee reflects hospitality. It's the first thing you offer when your friends come into your home. Given the disproportionate impact and symbolism a cup of coffee has - consider the "price" of charging for it, vs the "price" of giving it free.

We all know the training isn't meant to be particularly comfortable. But that's all the more reason to have comfortable non-training spaces (P.S. If they stick around, you'll be able to make the money you "lost" on coffee back on snacks and other secondary spend) #coachthehuman

To make your gym truly feel like home to your family (your clients), think to what you actually do when your family come to your home, and create the same feeling at your gym.

It feels great when clients thank you at the end of the session, right? Let's see if we can up the game. How's about we always finish the session with US thanking our clients and members. Collectively, and individually too if we can. #thankyou

Let's remember we are in service to our clients. They are they ones that pay us. Despite how the relationship dynamic might feel sometimes, they are not in service to us.

You want retention strategies? Look your clients in the eye at the end of each session and say "thank you", and deeply mean it. #retention #clientretention #thankyou

Great coaching is not just getting people to do more of a good thing, but helping them to do the good thing for personally meaningful reasons. #coachthehuman #motivation #human #health #fitiness

Support a client's needs as a human is about: ✅ Meeting the client where they are at. ✅ Joining THEM on THEIR journey. ✅ Providing guidance and encouragement along the way. ✅ Valuing them for who they are, not just what they do. #coachthehuman #needsupportive #SDT

A Head Coach isn't just a senior coach, or a coach with more responsibilities e.g. programming. A Head Coach is a leader of the coaches. His or her responsibilities are: 1) The development and welfare of the coaches. 2) The development and welfare of the members. ...in that order

If we look after our coaches, they will look after our members. It's easy to get carried away with creating exceptional client experience at the expense of exceptional coach experience.
