Bags on the seat next to you on public transport. 2019: Selfish douche move identifying you as an inconsiderate, thoughtless arse hole. 2020: An affirmative public health gesture that protects us all.

I loved day trips to Southport as a kid. As I grew up, the town seemed to follow the same route as many other British seaside resorts - failing to evolve to meet the expectations of millennial tourists. I've a lot of goodwill towards the place, I hope they use the money well.

Anyone any idea what these are? Spotted a few in Merseyrail stations the last few days. Could we finally be getting the fabled fully integrated smart card system with online account access that Walrus was supposed to be? Or just a new way to pay for a paper ticket?

I would like to think that some of the fireworks I can still hear going off in Liverpool right now are celebrating the restoration of grace and dignity to the Oval Office. More likely its just some ketwigs in the park.

As Liverpool reaps the rewards of mass testing and solid cross-party local leadership, lets remember that being in Tier 2 isn't our golden ticket to a return to the mistakes of the Summer. Let's use common sense during the next few weeks to keep driving infection rates down.

Friendly reminder that local elections were suspended in May 2020. The Mayor of Liverpool city is outside of his mandate and its time for him to go.

Wendy better hurry or she'll miss her train. Time to ask the council tax payers of Liverpool if there's enough gravy to go round for all three of our Mayor's. Joe Anderson has made us a national embarrassment. We don't need another one of his cronies claiming the throne.

A fundamental principle of government in a time of national emergency is to provide collective security. Competent crisis management is literally the reason they exist. Botches, u-turns, reacting to everything weeks late... Ideology aside, this government are a fucking joke.

There's just been a big debate in my house about what day of the week it is. We've concluded that we may need to start scratching a tally into the wall with a rusty shiv. Happy Thursday (?) everyone!

Really good to see that the cities universities were behind this technology, and even better it was put to use locally. This is how we become a smart city. Used responsibly, raw data can be utilised in innovative and life-enriching ways. lbndaily.co.uk/merseyrail-tri…

Devastating news for our city. With local elections coming up, already a year overdue, Liverpool has the opportunity to take out its own rubbish thank you very much. Are we ready for a Spring clean at the Cunard Building? The gravy stains on the carpets will be hard to remove.

Corruption within one political party is no justiciation to suspend local democracy. The Tories have zero mandate in Liverpool to consider an intervention like this. Let's not forget however that the rot started with the governing Labour group. ❎ Vote on Thursday, 6th May.

I've just came across a brilliant little local site putting out regular content about Liverpool. Give them some support and head over to MerseyNewsLive As Reach PLC homogenise their local news catalogue into clones of each other its refreshing to see Liverpool John Moores University students stepping up

This isn't exactly a hot take or anything, but we really need to stop with phrases like 'chumocracy'. It's called corruption. This reductive narrative, coupled with most of the country being on first name terms with this guy is nauseating. #PMQs

The proposal for reducing Liverpool City Council to a four yearly election cycle does nothing to remove the stale political culture that exists in many of our cities wards. We need a dynamic, multi-party local democracy fighting for every vote. Caller's proposal here is very odd

Just heard a local government officer describe young adults as one of the "hard to reach" groups, whilst later boasting a gleeful ignorance of Tik-Tok and scoffing at social media in general. Are they hard to reach, or are you the problem? But sure, more leaflets...
