So grateful for SPJ President's leadership of Society of Professional Journalists. She worked tirelessly this week to assemble a coalition of dozens of journalism groups to demand that misguided criminal charges be dropped vs. a TX journalist reporting on a protest. Authorities must listen!

College administrators, law enforcement and protesters, I strongly urge you to let them do their jobs without interference.

They are critical to the first rough draft of history and for them, the future of the fourth estate is right now!

These scenes of student journos being attacked by protesters and law enforcement are abhorrent!

Student journos have the same protections under the First Amendment as professionals, and right now they are outperforming many traditional news media outlets. 3/4

They are spending many sleepless nights and risking their own personal safety and well-being just to keep the public informed and to get the story right.

They are deserving of our respect and support. 2/4

Student journalists have been on the front lines covering these protests happening on college campuses across the country, many times when professional journalists have been denied access, from the very beginning. 🧵 1/4
