After quite a while, we've finally managed to crack the #cryoEM structure of #alphasynuclein filaments from #Parkinsonsdisease and #DLB, which share a common fold, suggesting these diseases are on a continuous spectrum. 🥳🥳🥳 As always with Michel Goedert. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
What a great time with SpillantiniLab and Coleman Lab at Cambridge! Maria told us the story of how she found alpha-synuclein to be a key component of Lewy bodies (1st pic in front of microscope room where she made the discovery).
It’s Day 3 of exciting new science at #ADPD2024! Prof. Spillantini gave a talk yesterday on our new mouse models expressing synuclein in gut and nasal epithelium. Come check out poster 0483 by our PhD student Pauline Vessiere on the effect of LRRK2 inhibition in these models.
