I think we at the point that COVID deniers and anti-mask fanatics are officially easy targets and we can stop filling twitter with invectives against them. Vinay Prasad MD MPH

As a #newattending, I find it so interesting that an unnamed FDA approved drug has no published paper more than 7 months after it was presented at ASH and yet, they’re marketing it so aggressively to physicians. #MedTwitter

Take 3: ACGME how did we get to a place where a board eligible neurosurgeon in a GME post-residency fellowship in their 7th year of training is paid $69,000/yr ($18/hr) and what can we do to fix this? And future earnings not an acceptable answer bc nothing in life is guaranteed.

The same people who say “HCQ failed in RCT and shouldn’t be used for Covid” also say “This novel cancer drug failed in an RCT but I have seen many patients who have achieved durable response with this drug. We need to be able to continue to use this drug” and my head spins!

I don’t support convalescent plasma EUA. But I’m surprised to see some cancer doctors who are always happy with FDA full approval of drugs based on response rates in single arm trials and comparing responses with historical controls not happy with the convalescent plasma EUA.

Looks like #medtwitter is tweeting more about #politics than science... When I follow #medtwitter, all I get is Trump vs. Biden, elections, and political opinions. Which hashtag should I use to keep up to date on science? Thank you

Now OUT in MedPage Today Continuing our debate last week, I flesh out the 8 reasons why extra (new) clinical fellowship years in medicine are problematic Last Friday we had a big debate b/c I called these a scam..

Trust? I would argue that taking 400k from Carnival Cruises, 600k from Netflix and 800k from AirBnB and then setting pandemic policy is probably not good for trust in a divided nation distrustful of public health and government

“Yes I know you’re doing this fellowship where you’re paid 5 times less than you would be if you went in to practice and you scored 99 percentile on your ITE but are you really interested?”

This is the key lesson 👇👇 A visible symbol that could divide us into tribes and be used to shame took far greater prominence than many other practical actions and resources that could curtail the pandemic spread All the flaws of human nature laid bare

The idea that we control when adult patients can find out their test results is so paternalistic. They are adults. They should be free to review their test results prior to discussing the appropriate medical recommendation with their medical team if that’s their choice.

As a clinician who has been seeing people in person throughout #COVID19 and has been talking through vaccine hesitancy with folks...I would NEVER talk to or about people like this. It shames me. WTF.

I would be fascinated to learn how #MedTwitter would actually describe cardiopulmonary resuscitation so your patients can make an informed decision. #MedEd #PalliativeCare #oncology

I stopped reading at versus Len/Dex. Not having a triplet as a comparison arm is simply inexcusable. The people who have put their names on this paper would never treat their patients with RD and it’s embarrassing to hear their excuses for including a substandard control arm.
