John Reinhold Bender (1882-1928), the handsome devil in our profile pic, was hired to coach #SLU Football #OTD in 1910. He went 13-3-1 in his two seasons at SLU, and most importantly inspired our equally handsome mascot, The Billiken

#OTD in 1964, Martin Luther King spoke on the #SLU campus. Dr. King held a press conference in Pius Library in the afternoon, then gave a speech in the West Pine Gym (now the Ctr for Global Citizenship) later that evening.
